This top wine hardly needs an introduction. As one of the most famous estates in Bordeaux, Ch\u00e2teau Latour is a household name. Naturally, Latour is one of the five Premier Grands Crus Class\u00e9s of the M\u00e9doc. The Pauillac requires slightly more time in the bottle than other wines from Latour. Great depth of texture, with high acidity and full tannins. Consequently, this 2018 Le Pauillac de Ch\u00e2teau Latour has only been on the market since 2023 and can be enjoyed until 2032. An excellent wine for aging, therefore! As time passes, the acidity will soften, the tannins become softer, and the fruit riper.<\/p>\n
In the glass, the Le Pauillac de Ch\u00e2teau Latour is a beautiful deep-dark red, almost black. Aromas of black fruits such as blackberries, blueberries and cherries, dark chocolate and a hint of cinnamon and black tea. In the mouth a velvet texture with powerful tannins through which the fruit splashes. A persistent aftertaste with a nice, tight acidity and a refreshing earthy tone.<\/p>\n
Pauillac\u2019s Chateau Latour is currently owned by the Frenchman Francois Pinault. The estate, with its 60 hectares of vineyards, is situated on the southern edge of Pauillac in Bordeaux. It lies on the border with the Saint-Julien wine region. According to the 1855 Bordeaux wine classification system, Ch\u00e2teau Latour is classified as Premier Grand Cru Class\u00e9. The estate cultivates approximately 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Merlot, and a small amount of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The young vines for the Pauillac de Latour grow on less prestigious terrois in the vineyard. The grapes are carefully harvested at optimal ripeness and brought to the winery for selection and pressing. This is followed by temperature-controlled fermentation, and finally, the wine ages for several months in oak barrels.<\/p>\n
