This Valenciso Rioja Reserva is an elegant yet powerful Rioja made from 100% Tempranillo. It has everything you expect from a Rioja, but just a little bit different. Juicy red fruit notes of blackcurrants, cherries, and raspberries with a delicate spiciness and an elegant touch of coffee. The oak flavor does not overpower but complements the fruitiness beautifully. The earthy notes are delicate and in the background, and the tannins are soft. The vineyards are cultivated sustainably with respect for the environment and a minimal impact on the landscape. The soil of the vines consists of limestone and clay. After the entirely manual harvest, the grapes ferment in concrete tanks, which is followed by malolactic fermentation. This gives the wine its delicious, supple, and soft tannins. The wine then ages for a further 19 months in predominantly Eastern European oak barrels.<\/p>\n
Valentin and Enciso have over 33 years of experience and background in Rioja. The name Valenciso was created by combining their first names. The estate was founded in 1998 and is located in Ollauri, just 4 km from Haro in the heart of Rioja Alta. A unique climate prevails here, featuring Mediterranean heat and Atlantic influences. The vineyards are situated on clay and limestone terroir, which is ideal for grape cultivation. Valenciso's goal is to express the elegance and delicacy of Northern Tempranillo. They focus on producing premium, unique, and elegant Tempranillos.
