Refreshing morning mist from California<\/h2>\n

Another delicious Californian Chardonnay. This one Wente Morning Fog Chardonnay<\/em><\/strong> owes its name to the morning mist that forms in the San Francisco Bay. This mist brings cooling, allowing the grapes to ripen optimally and evenly. Chardonnay<\/a> is a bit Gew\u00fcrztraminer<\/a> (5%) added, which brings a lovely freshness and fruitiness. Much more subtle in taste than the average Chardonnay from California. Very elegant! Serve the wine with a salad, seafood, or white meat for the optimal experience.<\/p>\n

Tasting note of the Wente Morning Fog Chardonnay<\/h3>\n

Liquid gold in the glass. The color, that is. The Chardonnay bursts out of the glass with aromas of citrus and green apple, complemented by hints of toasted oak and vanilla. Notes of toasted bread and butter, just as we like to see it from California. Beautifully balanced with fine minerality and acidity, this makes it another stunningly beautiful Chardonnay from the Wente estate. Delicious with seafood, chicken with sage, or pumpkin risotto!<\/p>\n

Vinification<\/h3>\n

The grapes are harvested by hand in the early morning while mist still hangs over the vineyards. Following this, the grapes undergo a very strict selection process to ensure that only the best grapes end up in the wine. The pickers transport the grapes directly to the winery in small wooden crates. The wine ferments 50% in stainless steel and 50% in American oak. This allows the wine to retain its fresh and fruity notes while also developing beautiful, rounded woody tones. Part of the stainless steel portion ages on the lees for 5 months, while the other part is already separated from the yeast cells to preserve the fruitiness. The portion fermented in wooden barrels ages for 5 months on the lees in wood with monthly b\u00e2tonnage (stirring of the yeast cells in the wine).<\/p>\n
