Masseria Pietrosa in Puglia is located in the village of San Marzano and was founded in 1962. The winemaker is Filippo Baccalaro, and his wines are typical of the terroir. Masseria Pietrosa is one of the 19 winegrowers who joined forces and collaborated in 1962 under the name \u201cCantine San Marzano\u201d. Much has happened in recent decades, as this cooperative currently numbers more than 1,200 growers. The harvest takes place at the end of September when the grapes are fully ripe. The grapes are picked entirely by hand. Modern facilities are used, yet the very old wine tradition of Puglia is preserved. The vinification process consists of thermocontrolled skin maceration, followed by fermentation in stainless steel tanks. The vineyards of Masseria Pietrosa are situated at an altitude of 100 meters above sea level. The provinces of Taranto and Brindisi consist of a flat landscape composed mainly of clay.<\/p>\n
