Boekenhoutskloof The Chocolate Block is een rode wijn uit Zuid-Afrika met de druif Syrah in de hoofdrol. De wijn heeft een heerlijke volle smaak met veel nuances.\u00a0 In de neus veel rijp rood fruit (kersen, rode bessen) en blauwe bessen aroma\u2019s, aangevuld met een tikje witte peper. In de smaak weelderig zwart fruit, subtiele zoete specerijen-aroma\u2019s, heel veel body en tonen van donkere chocolade. Tegelijkertijd toch fluweelzacht met een superlange afdronk. Krachtig met evenwicht en balans. Erg lekker. De Boekenhoutskloof The Chocolate Block wordt gemaakt van een blend van vijf druiven: naast Syrah ook cabernet sauvignon, grenache, cinsault en viognier (jazeker,\u00a0 een witte druif!).<\/p>\n

Wijn\/spijs<\/h2>\n

Fantastisch in combinatie met gebraden lamsbout met rozemarijn, runderstoofpot met salie<\/a>, alsook gegrilde ribeye met kruidenboter.<\/p>\n

Boekenhoutskloof<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Het prachtige landgoed Boekenhoutskloof is een van de oudste winery\u2019s in het district Franschhoek (Paarl). Gesticht in 1776 door de Franse hugenoten. In 1993 nam een consortium van 6 investeerders het landgoed over. Een nieuw, innovatief tijdperk brak aan. Marc Kent is sinds 1996 keldermeester en al gauw werd hij dan ook aandeelhouder nummer 7. Deze voormalig straaljagerpiloot bleek een onverwacht goede wijnmaker door zijn lef en onverschrokkenheid. Onder zijn bezielende leiding dirigeerde hij Boekenhoutskloof naar de top van Zuid-Afrika. In 2012 kreeg hij de titel \u2018Winery of the Year\u2019 van de gerenommeerde wijngids Platter\u2019s Wine Guide.<\/p>\n

Biodynamie<\/h2>\n

Ze werken biologisch-dynamisch en zijn een van de 31 Leading Winery\u2019s die lid zijn van de Old Vine Project die unieke waarde\u00a0 van oude wijnstokken onder de aandacht wil brengen.<\/p>\n

De filosofie van Marc luidt: \u2018Organic winemaking means leaving the world in a better way than how we found it.\u2019<\/p>\n

Op grond van deze unieke biodiversiteit te behouden, zijn invasieve planten verwijderd van de boerderij. Daarbij zijn grote delen van de omgeving zijn al vrijgemaakt van pijnbomen en gombomen. Het herstel van het kwetsbare rivierengebied en de herintroductie van verschillende inheemse planten is in volle gang.<\/p>\n

Boekenhoutskloof is dan ook een van de oprichters van de Franschhoek Mountain Conservancy, een initiatief om de samenwerking tussen buren te verbeteren en om het brandbeheer en het behoud van “fynbos” in de vallei te verbeteren.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
