But how delicious is that!<\/h2>\n<p>Officially, wine can only be called wine when it is produced by the fermentation of grape juice. At least, that is what the law calls it\u2026 but there is something slightly different going on. So what are we dealing with here? The Vignamato Vi di Visciola is a so-called \u201cbevanda aromatizzata\u201d and is based on a 19th-century recipe from great-grandmother Amato. So there is something odd going on here\u2026 What do they do at Vignamato, then? In June, they pick the ripe local sour cherries and let them ferment together with extra sugar. Only then, during the harvest season in October, is this supplemented with the must of local blue grapes, such as the <a href=\"https:\/\/wijnclubamsterdam.nl\/en\/kenmerk\/druif\/montepulciano\/\">Montepulciano <\/a>and the Sangiovese. A second fermentation follows, and the \u201cwine\u201d subsequently matures for several months before being bottled.<\/p>\n<h3>Is it that fruit wine? Well, not quite \u2026.<\/h3>\n<p>So we are actually talking about a sort of \u201cfruit wine\u201d. But oh oh, what a wine!! This is so delicious! The wine has a beautiful purple color and indeed a kind of very fresh amarene cherry scent. In addition, you also smell thyme and a sort of fresh, tart aromas. Complex. The wine behaves very playfully in the mouth and is absolutely not sticky. It also only has a \u201cregular\u201d 13.5%. And it is lovely, with some freshness at the end that immediately makes you think you are drinking regular wine again. This was a real discovery for us. Naturally, this is a top combination with, for example, amarene cherry ice cream together with a fried Panettone French toast. We actually think this is a fantastic alternative to a glass of port. You can surprise your guests with this at Christmas, for example. Pair the Vignamato Vi di Visciola with a few tasty blue cheeses or some hard cheeses such as aged Dutch cheese or a nice piece of fresh Parmesan. Delicious, our mouths are watering.<\/p>\n<div class=\"row hero hero-with-text\">\n<div class=\"col-12\">\n<div class=\"col col-md-8 mx-auto text-center\">\n<h3>Vignamato<\/h3>\n<p class=\"text-carmine\">Vignamato means \u2018vineyard of Amato\u2019, the father of owner Maurizio Ceci, but it is also a kind of fusion of vigna and amato, roughly translated as \u2018beloved vineyard\u2019. The name Vignamato was given to their winery in 1992 by Maurizio and his wife Serenella. The founder was Umberto Ceci, who bought a small piece of land near San Paolo di Jesi in the 1940s to cultivate Verdicchio. Under the leadership of Maurizio and Serenella, Vignamato has become a showcase for the region. Each wine is beautiful, in which tradition and innovation come together in a perfect way. Organic viticulture, all vineyards and the wine cellar completely up to date, beautifully following traditions, and an unconstrained passion result in original wines that show what the region has to offer.
