Vermentino di Gallura, the only DOCG of Sardinia<\/h2>\n

Sardinia is known for the excellent white wine made from the Vermentino grape. You encounter this grape everywhere on the island. However, there is only a small area where the best Vermentino is produced: Gallura. This small area in the north is the only one with the DOCG classification. Vermentino di Gallura DOCG Sp\u00e8ra comes from this area and is made by one of the most prominent winemakers from Gallura. This is where this Vermentino di Gallura Sp\u00e8ra Siddura DOCG comes from.<\/p>\n

Tasting note Vermentino di Gallura DOCG Sp\u00e8ra<\/h2>\n

The \u2018Sp\u00e8ra\u2019 possesses the typical light-footedness of a Vermentino. It is a fresh and lively wine. Vermentino di Gallura d.o.c.g. Sp\u00e8ra has a straw-yellow to golden color with light green reflections. The bouquet immediately evokes the coastal regions of the Mediterranean: sun, sea, and wind in a glass. The delicate aromas rise effortlessly from the glass and are an intriguing blend of peach, orange and yellow citrus fruits, even some tropical fruit, which continue delightfully into the juicy, fruity taste. The underlying minerals provide good grip and a beautiful, finesse-rich finish that persists well.<\/p>\n

About winemaker Siddura<\/h2>\n

Located near the medieval village of Luogosanto in the province of Olbia-Tempio, the Sidd\u00f9ra vineyards lie nestled among steep hills in northeastern Sardinia. The Mediterranean climate and the Mistral wind create a unique microclimate. Sidd\u00f9ra literally means saddle and is the wine project of German Nathan Gottesdiener and Sardinian Massimo Ruggero, originally from the city of Olbia. These two friends share an unconditional passion for Sardinia and purchased an abandoned yet charming property in the village of Luogosanto, surrounded by scrub and cork forests, in the Gallura wine region. It was transformed into a lush winery. Founded in 2008, it covers nearly 200 hectares, of which 22 hectares are planted with vines, on a soil mix of granite, sand, and clay. Here, in the heart of the Gallura DOCG, come the best Italian Vermentino wines.<\/p>\n

The harvest is carried out entirely by hand, and the vineyards are maintained practically completely organically. Grass has been planted between the rows of vines to prevent soil erosion and to achieve better soil structure. The underground cellar is truly state-of-the-art, equipped with the most modern and innovative vinification equipment. Because half of the cellar is nestled beneath a hillside, gravity can be utilized, eliminating the need to pump the must mechanically. This is the domain of oenologist Dino Dini. In addition to the 22 hectares on the winery itself, Sidd\u00f9ra also owns another 15 hectares of vineyards in the province of Sassari, spread across the villages of Monti and Usini, where Cannonau and Cagnulari vines are planted.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Wine and food combination<\/h2>\n
