The Zolla Primitivo Merlot is a very successful blend of the grapes. Primitivo<\/a> and Merlot<\/a>But what a wine this is! The Southern Italian character from Puglia<\/a> is powerful and rolls and swirls in your glass! Put your nose in the glass and you smell a lot of red and black fruit, as well as something sultry and spicy. This red wine comes from the region. Puglia<\/a>, the warm region in the heel of Italy. At our house, it was a tradition to pick blackberries every year in September. We regularly came home with a few good buckets of blackberries, which we then turned into blackberry jam. Just wash them, put them in a large pan, and then cook them briefly until they turned into blackberry jam. And that smell of warm blackberry jam, it was delicious! This Zolla Primitivo Merlot blend is just as much of a fruit bomb! The blend of Primitivo<\/a> and Merlot<\/a> grapes are bursting with fruitiness. Take a sip and you taste the intense, sultry flavor of ripe blackberries, cherries, and blueberries. Just like the home-picked blackberry jam.<\/p>\n

Taste and food pairing<\/h3>\n

The sultry and full character of the Primitivo grape and the gently drying and fruity character of the Merlot combine well in this wine. The sweetness of the Primitivo is slightly tempered by the Merlot. The wine has an intense ruby \u200b\u200bred color. Delicious aromas of red fruit, blue plums, nougat, and fig compote. The wine has been aged for 6-8 months in used American and French oak barrels. The result is a deliciously juicy and easy-drinking wine with delightful aromas of red fruit. Pair this Zolla Primitivo Merlot with, for example, pizza, pasta dishes, red meat, game, and a cheese platter. A perfect bridge is, of course, to add a spoonful of blackberry jam to the red wine jus.
