Primitivo <\/a>Magnum is Cantine Paradiso's flagship wine. This large 1.5-liter bottle of red wine comes in a luxurious wooden box. This makes the wine perfectly suited as a gift. After all, giving makes you happy. And we expect the recipient will be happy too! What a delight. A wine that is deep and intense, with notes of figs and currants, dark chocolate, mild and ripe. Full of flavor, with present but well-integrated tannins, plenty of dark fruit (plums, myrtle, berries) and hints of spices. It is like... closing your eyes, just as if you are in paradise for a moment. No, seriously. What we mean is that this is one of the better red wines made from the Primitivo grape.<\/p>\nJust after the Second World War in the 1950s, there was a lot of poverty among farmers in southern Italy. There was even a feudal system still in place. Grandfather Angelo Paradiso, one of the many poor farmers in Puglia, decides to take matters into his own hands. The Cantine Paradiso winery was founded. Nowadays Cantine Paradiso is a beautiful large winery. It is particularly known for its full-bodied red wines made from Primitivo, Negroamaro and Nero di Troia. Their best wine, the Paradiso 1954 Primitivo, is made from 100% Primitivo and is named after the year it was founded: 1954. Cantine Paradiso<\/h3>\n
Cantine Paradiso is located in the village of Cerignola in the province of Foggia, in the southern part of the plain known as Tavoliere delle Puglie. The Tavoliere, with soils of alluvial origin, enjoys protection to the north from the Gargano foothills and to the west from the mountains of the Subappennino-Dauno. To the east lies the Gulf of Manfredonia, which tempers the cold air arriving from the Balkans in winter. The soils are characterized by a high presence of limestone and good drainage capacity. The climate is temperate in winter, with good precipitation and rarely any snow. It is very hot in summer: between July and August, temperatures easily rise above 40\u00b0C and rain is rare. Vines have always been cultivated in these climates and at these latitudes.<\/p>\n
It is worth bearing in mind that Cerignola was the absolute leading player in the wine market in the 19th century. Bottles of Nero di Troia were exported in abundance to France as blended wine. It was the era of the great landowners before the major restructuring of Italian agriculture.<\/p>\n
Even today, viticulture is one of the cornerstones upon which the Cerignola economy rests, along with olive cultivation and wheat. The most widely cultivated varieties are Sangiovese, Trebbiano, Malvasia, and Moscato.
