De wijn komt uit <a href=\"https:\/\/wijnclubamsterdam.nl\/en\/kenmerk\/regio\/italie\/friuli\/\">Friuli<\/a>, in het noordoosten van Itali\u00eb, en is gemaakt van 100% <a href=\"https:\/\/wijnclubamsterdam.nl\/en\/kenmerk\/druif\/pinot-grigio\/\">Pinot Grigio<\/a>. Daardoor is hij toegankelijk, maar niet vlak. Oorspronkelijk combineerde het landgoed wijnbouw met veeteelt en de kweek van zijderupsen. Rond het landhuis werden aan het eind van de 19e eeuw de eerste wijngaarden aangeplant. Daarbij werd gebruikgemaakt van de belussera-techniek, een systeem met hoge, uitgegroeide wijnstokken dat destijds in Vazzola werd ontwikkeld.<\/p>\n<p>In de loop der jaren verschoof de aandacht steeds meer naar wijn. Andere activiteiten verdwenen naar de achtergrond. Daardoor konden middelen en kennis gerichter worden ingezet. Deze ontwikkeling leidde tot wijnen met een duidelijke stijl en herkomst. Villa San Martino Le Rive Pinot Grigio is daar een goed voorbeeld van: een wijn die eenvoud en precisie combineert.<\/p>\n<h3>Wijnhuis Cabert en de regio Friuli<\/h3>\n<p>Villa San Martino maakt deel uit van Cabert, een wijnhuis dat in 1960 werd opgericht in Bertiolo. Oorspronkelijk heette het bedrijf Cantina Sociale del Friuli Centrale. Die naam werd al snel ingekort tot Cabert. Het huis ligt in de Grave del Friuli, een vlakte die bekendstaat om zijn stenige bodems en goede drainage.<\/p>\n<p>Cabert werkt met duidelijke richtlijnen voor elke stap in het proces. Snoei, opbrengst en oogstmoment krijgen veel aandacht. Daarnaast werken verschillende wijnmakers samen, ieder met een eigen specialisme. De druiven voor de Villa San Martino-lijn groeien tussen de rivier de Piave en de heuvels van Conegliano en Valdobbiadene.
