De klassieke rode wijnen zijn echte eetwijnen. Deze eetwijnen zijn qua kleur intens rood en zijn vol, stevig en bevatten erg veel complexiteit en intensiteit. Daarbij zijn ze ook wel duidelijk wat tannineus. Gelukkig binden deze tannines zich met eiwitten en verdwijnt het stroeve gevoel als sneeuw voor de zon.
