Anyone interested in wine will surely recognize the regions of Bordeaux and Burgundy. After all, these are very famous and coveted wine regions. And not without reason. For centuries, the art of winemaking has been practiced and perfected here. Take Burgundy, for example. Every single meter of vineyard was mapped out by monks back when the world wasn't so focused on wine. They identified which piece of soil produced a unique, distinct style of wine, and these were eventually classified and categorized. A fine modern Burgundy might cost a bit, but you certainly get what you pay for! The rich history, elegance, and tradition are in every bottle. And then there is Chateauneuf-nu-Pape, France's first AOP, with its beautiful, powerful wines. Not to forget Bordeaux... talk about exclusivity!<\/p>\n
One can therefore see that many French grapes are used in the New World (including South America, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa), and that the top wineries essentially always try to emulate the top French wines. And that works quite well, mind you! Yet, there is nothing like the original. After all, one cannot relocate the terroir or reproduce it perfectly (although every effort is made to do so).
