Tuscan Finesse in Your Glass!

Casanova di Neri Rosso di Montalcino brings the sun of Tuscany to your glass, with juicy fruit, refined spices, and a silky texture. It’s the approachable yet impressive sibling of the Brunello di Montalcino – sharing the same soul, but offering earlier drinking pleasure.

This wine is made from 100% Sangiovese grapes, sourced from seven different terroirs surrounding Montalcino in Tuscany. Hand harvesting, meticulous selection, and 12 months of oak ageing ensure top-level quality. The result is a wine that’s immediately seductive, yet built to age gracefully. It’s no surprise that Casanova di Neri receives worldwide acclaim from critics.

Tasting Profile and Experience

On the nose, the wine opens with floral aromas, small red fruits, and a touch of tobacco. Subtle hints of sweet spice add depth and complexity.

On the palate, the Rosso di Montalcino displays its finesse: silky tannins, lively energy, and a perfect balance of fruit and spice. Flavours of juicy cherries and raspberries are framed by elegant notes of herbs and spice. The finish is long, warm, and velvety – a pure invitation to pour another glass.

Culinary Pairings

This Tuscan Rosso shines alongside classic Italian dishes and beyond. Ideal matches include:

  • Grilled red meats and ossobuco
  • Tuscan specialties and rich pasta dishes
  • Aged cheeses such as Pecorino
  • Game and aromatic stews
  • Italian charcuterie and antipasti

Serve at 16–17 °C for the perfect balance, and allow the wine a short time to breathe.

Casanova di Neri – Icon of Montalcino

The story began in 1971, when Giovanni Neri recognized the great potential of Montalcino. Since 1991, his son Giacomo has led the estate with the same passion. Today, the property covers 500 hectares, of which 63 hectares are vineyards spread across seven unique terroirs.

This diversity of soils, microclimates, and altitudes forms the foundation for wines that combine power and elegance. Casanova di Neri is renowned for its respect for nature, innovation, and uncompromising quality.

The grapes for Rosso di Montalcino are hand-harvested in October. Strict selection takes place both before and after destemming. Fermentation occurs naturally in conical, temperature-controlled tanks. Maceration lasts 18 days, with gentle extraction to maximize aromatics. The wine then matures for 12 to 18 months in oak before release.

Vintage 2023 – Character and Balance

The year 2023 brought a relatively mild winter and a cool spring that slowed vine growth. May and June provided abundant rainfall, allowing the vineyards to build rich water reserves. The summer was warm and dry, but without extreme heat peaks – ideal for the slow, balanced ripening of Sangiovese.

Harvest began in the third week of September under perfect conditions. The result is a Rosso di Montalcino that beautifully unites freshness, structure, and fruit. A wine that captures the essence of Sangiovese: immediately enjoyable, yet with enough depth to surprise for years to come.
