Il Messo Governo Toscana Rosso is made according to the method Governo All’uso Toscano. Governo is a very old winemaking technique that was most likely invented in Tuscany in the 14th century. It is similar to today’s popular Passito method in which harvested grapes are partially dried. According to this ancient Governo technique, which originated in Tuscany in the 14th century and was then called Governo All’uso Toscano, partially dried grapes are used. After fermentation, the dried grapes are added to the must. A second fermentation occurs and this gives the wine Governo Rosso Toscana power, depth and complexity and creates the beautiful expressive aroma with lots of fruit!

Tasting Note Il Messo Governo Toscana

We recommend opening this wine half an hour before drinking. With some oxygen, the nose will quietly open and the aromas of cherries and blueberries will be well released. Il Messo Governo Rosso Toscana is made from Sangiovese and Merlot grapes, and you can taste it! In the nose aromas of ripe cherries, blueberries, plums some vanilla and clove. The taste is wonderfully soft and concentrated with the cherries and plums dominating. On the back of the tongue some vanilla, plums, light spices and toffee. This wine is an excellent companion is pasta with tomato sauce, steak, game and BBQ.
