11 Rows of currants, cherries and chocolate!

The Cantine San Marzano 11 Filari Primitivo di Manduria Dolce Naturale is a subtle sweet red wine produced with Primitivo grapes naturally dried in the vineyard. An intense ruby red color with garnet tones; persistent and complex nose with hints of overripe fruit reminiscent of cherry jam and dried figs, minerals and a touch of spicy herbs and cocoa powder; slightly spicy notes; a feeling of honey, balanced with a nice fresh acidity for tension. The wine has matured for 12 months in French oak barriques and then in the bottle for another 6 months. The wine is a dream with…Black Forest Kirschtorte! Limburg cherry pie and dark chocolate mousse! The San Marzano 11 Filari is also great with matured cheese with an intense flavor. A meditation wine and certainly an alternative to Port.

Traditionally, careful attention is paid to the drying of grapes on just 11 rows of Primitivo vines, planted in their red, limestone-like soil.
With patience, one extracts precious drops of sweet nectar from the grapes to produce an inimitable wine, unplanned and unpredictable – like everything that is not always just practical and normal. To be enjoyed preferably when the evening requires something special.

Cantine san Marzano

The motto here is…”The best grape is the one we haven’t harvested yet…”. That says enough. seems to us! A stone’s throw from the Ionian Sea, Masseria Samia is a place of work and stories. As is often the case with a Cantine San Marzano project, this masseria is a typical 16th century farmhouse on the Ionian coast, which has been carefully and respectfully restored; It is a house open to our guests and friends, and the ideal place to tell our story through courses and reveal knowledge about wine and cooking. A Mediterranean garden surrounded by silence, where paths criss-cross through the trees, flowers and herbs of the Mediterranean flora.

San Marzano is a small village in the center of the Primitivo di Manduria DOC region, a strip of land kissed by the two seas of the Salento: the Ionian and the Adriatic. In 1962, the DOC appellation did not yet exist and the Primitivo di Manduria was far from being a cult wine for wine lovers. Yet 19 winemakers came together to follow a dream and founded Cantine San Marzano.

And last but not least, San Marzano  is the place where through wine we will share our idea of stories and beauty. The San Marzano 11 Filari is a beautiful story with a very nice ending.
