• Damilano Barbera d’Asti DOCG: Barbera d’Asti is just as well known in northern Italy as Barolo. Obviously a different wine in a different style, but with just as high quality! The Damilano Barbera d’Asti is made from 100% Barbera grapes in the Monferrato region in Piedmont. It is a dark red wine with a fruity scent of cherries, currants, violets and some vanilla thanks to the wood aging. The calcareous loam soil of the vineyards provides a beautiful elegance to the wines. Pour these wines with a starter, red meat or aged cheeses for an optimal wine-food combination.
• Biscardo Enigma Appassimento Sangiovese: This wine has been at the top of Vivino users’ top lists for months. An enigma when it is still in the bottle, but when you take a sip you understand exactly why! An intense, black color with deep sweet-ripe aromas of dark forest fruit, light licorice and woodsy notes. Full, soft and ripe in the mouth with a long aftertaste. The Sangiovese grapes are first dried for a number of months before pressing, as is also done with an Amarone. This creates a more concentrated juice, which makes the wine incredibly intense and full. Can be enjoyed with drinks, but is better served with beautiful dishes such as stuffed veal breast or with mature cheeses.
• Pontemagno Il Rubjo Conero Riserva: A Rosso Conero from the Marche in central Italy. Ilja Gort is enthusiastic about it and so are we! Made from 100% Montepulciano grapes, matured in wooden barriques and then quietly refined in the bottle. Full and intense with red berries, strawberries and delicious autumn notes. De Grote Hamersma is also happy with this wine and rates it with a big 9! A winner with pasta or risotto with truffle!
• Fantini Edizione Cinque Autoctoni: This wine is also at the top of the top lists of Vivino users and wine critic Luca Maroni also gives this wine his highest score! Cinque Autoctoni, five authentic grape varieties. Malvasia Nero, Montepulciano, Negroamaro, Primitivo and Sangiovese. The goal of this blend was to create a wine that would encapsulate southern Italy, forged with the area’s finest vines. And whether it worked! Dark in color, intense and persistent scents. Fruity cherries with aromatic herbs, cinnamon, cocoa and some liquorice. Firm structure, but wonderfully soft tannins and a nice freshness. Goes very well with spicy dishes or a venison steak!
