A super-fresh, crisp thirst quencher with the typical peppery note of Grüner Veltliner and completely alcohol-free.
Pfaffl Grüner Veltliner Primo 0% Alcohol is a refreshing, alcohol-free drink that clearly betrays its Austrian origins. Fresh, light, and fruit-driven, with notes of green apple, pear, grape, and citrus. The style is crisp and lively, with good acidity and a subtle sparkle. This makes Primo 0% an accessible alternative to wine, without alcohol but with character.
The story of Weingut Pfaffl begins in 1978, when Roman and Adelheid Pfaffl took over the family business at a young age in Stetten, just north of Vienna. Where the farm previously revolved around grain, potatoes, and livestock, the focus shifted entirely to viticulture. Within a few decades, Pfaffl grew into one of Austria's most famous wineries.
Today, the name Pfaffl is an international symbol of Grüner Veltliner. The winery has received worldwide recognition and was named European Winery of the Year by Wine Enthusiast, a confirmation of its consistent quality and modern style. It remains a family business, with a strong focus on origin, freshness, and precision.
Pfaffl is based in Lower Austria, Austria's largest wine-growing region. Within this region lies the Weinviertel, known as the homeland of Grüner Veltliner. The combination of loess soils, warm days, and cool nights results in grapes with fresh acidity and pronounced aromas. This terroir also forms the basis for the alcohol-free Primo 0%.
For the Primo Grüner Veltliner 0% Alcohol, Pfaffl does not use de-alcoholization, but a different technique. The grapes are harvested as early as the beginning of August, when they are still unripe and contain little sugar. The juice is pressed and filtered immediately so that fermentation cannot take place. As a result, no alcohol is produced. This unfermented grape juice is known as verjus.
To balance the high natural acidity, the juice is slightly diluted with water. It is then bottled. The result is a fresh, non-sweet drink with a wine-like character and a light pétillant.
Pfaffl Grüner Veltliner Primo 0% Alcohol is versatile and suitable for any time of day. It pairs well with food, but is also pleasant to drink on its own. The wine is delicious with:
