The Bernardus Chardonnay Monterey County is the ultimate wine for lovers of a rich, full-bodied Chardonnay. The long oak aging of this white wine from California results in a delicious aroma of exotic fruit, white flowers such as acacia, and vanilla. A wine with beautiful complexity and perfect balance! Golden yellow in color, full, round, and smooth on the palate, with a long and powerful finish. A fantastic and slightly bombastic wine! A joy to drink!
Full, round chardonnay made from hand-harvested grapes. 90% is fermented in French oak. Of these, 33% are new barrels, the remaining 10% in stainless steel to preserve freshness in the wine. This Bernardus Chardonnay Monterey County has intense aromas of white flowers, acacia and exotic fruit.
Not really an aperitif, as it is far too intense for that. Truly a wine for the table. The wine calls for thickened and hearty dishes (with cream). Not only smoked salmon, but also think of pasta carbonara, but also a gevogelte in een dragon room saus of aan blanquette de veau.
Almost by chance, former Dutch race car driver Ben Pon acquired a piece of land on the Californian slopes behind Carmel Valley Village in 1989. Here, he started his Bernardus Winery with the goal of producing beautiful, full-bodied wines. Carmel Valley is a magnificent place for vines. The mountains protect the vines from the influences of the sea. Thanks to the cool wind and mist, the grapes ripen slowly. This gives the grapes their beautiful structure and acidity.
The special quality of Carmel Valley is clearly visible in the Carmel Valley wineries, tasting rooms, and wine bars found along the dramatic valley. Well-drained, gravelly terraces, such as those found in Bordeaux, combined with the average low temperature caused by the sea, characterize the terroir of Carmel Valley (which received an official AVA designation in 1983). Also, be sure to try the iconic Marinus wine, made from the Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot varieties, which make up 70% of the Carmel Valley AVA.
