Barolo, king of wines

It is not only an expression but a king of wines in the glass as well. Not very deep in color, but what strength and what power! Very fragrant, a deep flavor, and a very long finish with robust tannins. The Beni di Batasiolo Barolo is an exclusive, very powerful wine of exceptional quality and complexity. This Beni di Batasiolo Barolo has undergone long aging in French oak barrels. After approximately 24 months, this Barolo ages in the barrel, followed by bottle aging of about 6 to 12 months. Full and complex with many nuances of black cherry, plum, chocolate, licorice, and tobacco on the nose. On the palate, it is brilliant, very smooth, and with an enormous aromatic profile.

You enjoy the Barolo best by decanting it in good time (a few hours in advance). And certainly do not drink the Barolo too young!! A good age is around 10 years old, but the good ones can certainly reach 20 years. During its first years, the wine also enters a kind of hibernation, meaning it does not unfold in the glass. Drink the wine at 16-18 degrees. (That is certainly somewhat lower than room temperature). Pair the Barolo with a winter meal (risotto al funghi or wild boar ragout, for example) or some aged, spicy cheeses.

Barolo wines sometimes come with a hefty price tag. The price is determined in part by the location and soil type of the vineyard, the age of the vines, the quality selection of the grapes, and the often longer aging of the wine in large or smaller barrels. There are always Barolos that are cheaper, but these do not meet the strictest criteria. A good Barolo comes from the core areas and selected vineyards! Quality control is strict. It is not without reason that Barolo has held the highest Italian classification, DOCG, since 1980 (Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita). The wines are loved all over the world and demand is therefore considerable. We are pleased to be able to offer this Barolo at this price.

Winery

Beni di Batasiolo, owned by the Dogliani family, is a winery in the Langhe region in Piedmont. In 1978, the Dogliani brothers purchased the historic Kiola winery in La Morra. With the addition of this large winery and their own lands, the total estate now consists of 9 farms and 264 hectares of vineyards, 150 of which are planted with the most important and celebrated locally grown grape, Nebbiolo, for the production of Barolo!

Thanks to this large area of ​​vineyards, Batasiolo has the ability to produce a complete range of high-quality Piedmontese wines, varying from classic reds (Barolo, Barbera, Dolcetto) to delicate whites and the famous sparkling Moscato d’Asti. In addition to a wide range of Piedmontese wines, the Dogliani family owns no fewer than 5 Barolo Crus: Il Boscareto, Briccolina, Brunate, Cerequio, and Bussia Vigneto Bofani. Together with the ‘regular’ Barolo and Barolo Reserva, these form the heart of Batasiolo.
