Scaia Paradiso from Tenuta Sant’Antonio has exactly the name that best describes itself: Paradiso. And that is exactly what it is! We are wildly enthusiastic about the powerful yet deliciously fruity taste, the depth with full and dark fruit, the very smooth mouthfeel, and the fine finish. You can taste that the wine is made with partially dried grapes, and this part of the wine integrates seamlessly with the wine that is not made from dried grapes. This is amazing! Paradise on earth!
In 1995, the first wines from Tenuta Sant’ Antonio came onto the market, and the attention of the wine press, importers, and consumers was drawn almost immediately. This winery of four brothers from Veneto is one that had to be reckoned with! The first major recognition took place in 2000 when the Gambero Rosso awarded the Cabernet Sauvignon Capitello 1997 three glasses. Before that, the Chardonnay Colori d’Autunno 1996 had already scored 93 out of 100 points in Wine Spectator, and there was much interest in the Chardonnay IGT Scaia Bianca. It had become clear that the Castagnedi brothers were capable of making international wines. Currently, the four brothers produce great wines that are highly appreciated by international wine critics as well as consumers!
The climate in Veneto at Tenuta Sant’Antonio consists of warm summers and relatively mild winters. The soils consist of a thin layer of limestone, pebbles, clay, and sand. The grapes are fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. After the first fermentation, dried Cabernet Sauvignon skins are added, resulting in a second fermentation. The wine ages for 1 year in 500-liter oak barrels.
Ruby red wine with purple reflections and aromas of morello cherries, blueberries, candied red fruit, and spices such as black pepper, liquorice, cocoa, and tobacco. The taste is full, soft, and warm with a velvety texture. Serve Scaia Paradiso lightly chilled at 14 to 16 °C. Pair the wine with pasta or risotto with truffle, mushrooms, and meat-based sauces, with grilled red or pork, and with mature cheeses. Or drink the wine on its own and treat yourself to a glass of paradise!
