This is a wine that immediately fools you with its rich character. Is this a Bordeaux? No, it is a Bergerac! This beautiful wine comes from the Bergerac-region in Zuidwest-France, to the east of its big brother. The Château Les Fontenelles Bergerac Rouge is a blend of approximately 65% Merlot and 35% Cabernet SauvignonThese typical Bordeaux grapes create the perfect balance between the soft roundness of Merlot and the powerful structure of Cabernet Sauvignon. The climate is quite similar, only the weather in Bergerac is slightly less ‘fickle’, meaning the quality is somewhat more consistent each year. The result is a stunning wine that offers a luxurious experience for a more than reasonable price. Whether you are a wine connoisseur or simply enjoy a good glass of wine, Château Les Fontenelles Bergerac Rouge is an excellent choice.
Château Les Fontenelles Bergerac Rouge has a bouquet with intense aromas. You smell plums, cassis, blackberries, chocolate, and leather, inviting you to taste. On the palate, you experience a robust, spicy wine with beautiful tannins that ensure a balanced and rich flavor. This wine is versatile and pairs excellently with red meat, BBQ, lamb, game dishes, and cheese. The complexity and depth of the flavors make it an ideal accompaniment to a wide range of dishes, turning every dinner into a special occasion.
Château Les Fontenelles has been in the hands of the Bourdil family for generations. Nicolas Bourdil, the third-generation winemaker, took the helm and completely transformed the estate. At the age of 21, he decided to grow and vinify the wines himself at the Château. This led to a true revolution. In 1999, after his studies, Nicolas invested in his own wine cellar with modern facilities, supported by his parents. His passion for winemaking proved to be his calling, and he soon managed to capture the unique characteristics of the terroir in his wines. He regularly wins medals with his creations, which testifies to his craftsmanship and dedication.
The winery is located in one of the oldest buildings on the estate. Amidst the historic stones and old wooden beams stand stainless steel tanks with a capacity of 270,000 liters. Some of these tanks are temperature-controlled. This enables the Bourdil family to age their wines separately and make them fully traceable. This combination of traditional craftsmanship and modern technology ensures that Château Les Fontenelles Bergerac Rouge is a wine that perfectly reflects both its origin and the dedication of its makers.
