Château des Jacques Morgon is located in the Beaujolais just above Brouilly, east of Regnié. The soil consists of granite and slate. In this cherry-red wine, aromas of walnut are discernible. A powerful scent and taste of ripe raspberries and strawberries. Despite its power, the wine possesses silky tannins that allow for bottle aging of 8 to 10 years. When drunk young, this Morgon is fantastic with pasta and light meats. An aged example enriches game dishes and lamb.

    Château des Jacques Morgon

Château des Jacques is located in a beautiful 17th-century mansion in Romaneche-Thorins in the Moulin-à-Vent cru. On the 88 hectares of granite-rich terroir, Gamay grows, from which Cyril Chirouze produces beautiful Cru wines. Not only Moulin-à-Vents with tremendous aging potential, but also Morgon, Fleurie, Chénas, and even a white Beaujolais made from Chardonnay. The grapes are harvested by hand and carefully selected. Subsequently, the grapes are destemmed in a special machine that carefully removes each grape from the stems. This prevents the green tannins from the stems from entering the wine. Château des Jacques was one of the first wineries in Beaujolais to apply this technique. Just as in Burgundy, the terroir of Beaujolais is paramount, and the wines are vinified as naturally as possible.

    Terroir and vinification

Beaujolais has a continental climate with warm summers and cold winters. The soil consists of granite with traces of volcanic basalt. The wine was fermented in stainless steel tanks and subsequently aged for some time in oak barrels.

    Taste and food pairing

This wine is characterized by dark fruit. Aromas of walnut are discernible in this cherry-red wine. A powerful scent and taste of ripe raspberries and strawberries. Wine from the Morgon pairs excellently with light game.
