With this Tempranillo, Ramón Roqueta produces a wine with ripe red and black fruit, light aromas of oak, hints of licorice and chocolate, and a soft, creamy texture. Easy to drink and versatile. Delicious with pasta and various vegetarian or meat dishes, among others.
The written history of the family Roqueta goes back to the 12th century, although there are indications that they were already active in Catalan viticulture during the Roman occupation. Nevertheless, it was not until 1898 that Don Ramón Roqueta Torrentó settled in Manresa in the middle of the Plá de Bages to begin producing wines on a larger commercial basis.
Today, the company in this part of the wine region is run by the 4th generation. Just like with his forefathers, technological development and respect for tradition are central to Valentín Roqueta Guillamet's business operations. To this end, the company has also hired the young, dynamic winemaker Juan Soler. He produces fruity, smooth wines that have clearly retained their Spanish character. The Ramón Roqueta winery is now also ISO (9002) certified.
The Tempranillo grapes come partly from the 127 hectares of vineyards owned by the winery, while the remaining bunches are purchased from local growers. Although the label bears the Denominación Catalunya, geographically speaking, the vineyards for Ramón Roqueta's wines are located mostly in the Plá de Bages. The altitude here is between 400 and 600 meters above sea level. The wind and temperature here have a favorable influence on the ripening of the grapes. This is also appreciated abroad; no less than 50% of the total annual production is exported.
Catalonia enjoys a Mediterranean climate. The soils consist primarily of loam and clay. This Tempranillo is a semi-crianza wine that ages for one month in French and American oak barriques after 15 days of skin maceration and fermentation.
Ripe red and black fruit, light aromas of oak, hints of licorice and chocolate, and a soft, creamy texture. An all-round wine, delicious with pasta and various vegetarian or meat dishes, among others.
The oak leaf on the label symbolizes strength and renewal, the wheel recalls the traditional way of picking grapes, and the fiery flame stands for family and a safe home. Grapes are the pure expression of the craft.
