Soft, refined, complex and already ready to drink

The Poggio Landi Brunello di Montalcino Dievole is intense and elegant. On the nose, aromas of ripe red fruit complemented by black pepper, licorice, and a hint of tobacco and leather. A beautifully complex red wine that is well-balanced on the palate. The tannins characteristic of this wine are soft and ripe. The finish is long and smooth. This wine is ready to drink now (the taste is soft and full), but can certainly age for another 10 to 15 years. 2012 is an excellent year for Brunello! Wine Spectator awards this wine a remarkable 95 points.

The Poggio Landi Brunello di Montalcino Dievole ages for 38 months in French oak barrels and then for at least another 6 months in the bottle.

Poggio Landi Brunello di Montalcino with dinner

A classic wine for hearty dishes such as oven-roasted beef and pasta sauces like wild boar. Also delicious with Ossubucco.

Brunello di Montalcino: worth the wait

Brunello di Montalcino is made with a local Tuscan Sangiovese grape variety called Brunello. Some call this grape Prugnolo Gentile. Brunello di Montalcino is a red wine that was granted the Protected Designation of Origin (DOC) in 1967. In 1980, the wine obtained DOCG status. The production zone is limited to the territory of the municipality of Montalcino in the south of the province of Siena. This is the Sangiovese that is praised by most wine critics as the best in all of Italy.

Brunello di Montalcino has exceptionally powerful fruit aromas, high tannins, and high acidity. The grape is responsible for Brunello di Montalcino's popularity, but it is the tannins and acidity that allow this red wine to reach its perfection. Usually, that only happens after 10 years. Yes, it is worth the wait. As a wine lover, an aged Brunello di Montalcino should definitely be on your bucket list.
