The Tenuta Friggiali Brunello di Montalcino is a wine with a quick impact. The nose immediately reveals a complex scent of forest fruit, cranberry, licorice, smoked aromas and even cherry cola. Medium intensity which makes it somewhat elegant and also accessible. Wonderful long aftertaste with soft ripe tannins. The Brunello di Montalcino is a red wine that received the protected designation of origin DOC in 1967. In 1980 the wine obtained DOCG status. The production zone is limited to the territory of the municipality of Montalcino in the south of the province of Sienna. The Brunello di Montalcino is one of the most appreciated and precious Italian wines. A bottle from a good year can cost hundreds of euros. This is truly a gourmet wine. A classic wine for hearty classic dishes such as roast beef from the oven and pasta sauces wild boar ragout. Also delicious with Ossobuco.
The name of his wine is inspired by the Latin ‘frigidi’ for ‘windy fields’. Partly due to this, the Brunello di Montalcino Tenuta Friggiali is a very balanced wine. A Brunello has a mandatory aging period of 4 years, of which 2 years are in wood. On average, a Brunello is ready to drink after 10 years and can then be stored for several more years. This can even be several decades, but that depends on factors such as the vintage, the winery, and a good, cool cellar.
In Montalcino, the beautiful village in Tuscany, the magnificent Tenuta Friggiali winery lies at an altitude of 450 meters. The Centolani family cultivates more than 22 hectares of Sangiovese here, including this particularly elegant Brunello di Montalcino. Winemaker and oenologist Olga Peluso Centolani leads the estate with a firm hand.
