With the Coravin Pivot+ wine preservation system, you can easily pour a single glass of wine, while the rest of the bottle stays fresh for up to four weeks. Ideal if you enjoy drinking different wines side by side or do not want to finish every opened bottle immediately.
The system works with still wine and virtually any type of bottle closure. First, remove the original cork or screw cap and replace it with the special Pivot Stopper. Then, place the Pivot+ on the stopper and pour the desired amount of wine. During pouring, argon gas is added, keeping oxygen out of the bottle as much as possible.
As soon as a bottle of wine is opened, the wine comes into contact with oxygen. While this is often pleasant while drinking, it eventually causes the wine to oxidize. The Coravin Pivot+ limits this process by filling the empty space in the bottle with inert argon gas.
According to Coravin, color, smell and taste are retained for up to four weeks when used correctly. This means you can drink one glass today and continue with the same bottle days or even weeks later.
The difference between the Pivot and the Pivot+ lies, among other things, in the included Pivot Aerator. This aerator allows the wine to come into contact with oxygen in small streams during pouring. According to Coravin, this creates an effect comparable to approximately 60 to 90 minutes of decanting.
This can be particularly useful with young, powerful red wines. You don't have to decant the bottle for a long time first, but can pour a glass immediately.
The system works with natural cork, synthetic cork, glass closures, and screw caps, among other materials. This makes the Pivot+ particularly flexible for daily use.
The Pivot+ is particularly interesting for wine lovers who want to enjoy a glass regularly without immediately opening the entire bottle. The system is also practical when two people want to drink different wines.
The Coravin Pivot+ set consists of the Pivot+ device, a Pivot Aerator, two Pivot Stoppers, two Coravin Pure argon capsules, and a bottle sleeve. According to the manufacturer, one Coravin capsule is good for up to approximately twenty 150 ml glasses when used with a Pivot system.
With the Pivot+, the bottle is actually opened. The original closure is then replaced by a Pivot Stopper. As a result, the wine remains good for up to approximately four weeks.
The Coravin Timeless systems work differently. With these, a thin needle passes through the natural cork, meaning it does not need to be removed. Timeless is therefore primarily intended for special bottles that you want to store for much longer. Pivot+, on the other hand, is practical for wines that you want to drink within a few weeks.
With the Coravin Pivot+, you no longer have to choose between drinking a glass of wine and opening a whole bottle. The system keeps still wine fresh for up to four weeks, works with virtually any bottle stopper, and aerates the wine while pouring. A convenient solution for anyone who wants to drink different wines by the glass more often.
In addition to the Pivot+, we have more wine storage systems and accessories from Coravin in our range.
A Coravin wine preservation system helps prevent wine from oxidizing quickly after pouring. During pouring, the space created in the bottle is filled with argon gas. As a result, the remaining wine comes into contact with hardly any oxygen. Furthermore, with the Coravin Timeless systems, the cork remains in the bottle while a thin needle passes through the cork. This allows you to pour a single glass without opening the bottle in the traditional way.
No. Coravin uses food-safe argon gas. Argon is an inert gas and does not react with the wine. As a result, it does not change the composition, aroma, or taste of the wine. When used according to the instructions, the argon gas is suitable for storing and serving wine.
Argon is used because it reacts virtually not with other substances. During pouring, the gas takes the place of the wine escaping from the bottle. This minimizes contact between oxygen and the remaining wine. It is precisely oxygen that causes oxidation after opening a bottle, and ultimately changes in aroma and taste.
No. Argon is odorless, tasteless, and non-reactive. Therefore, it adds no aroma or flavor to the wine. On the contrary: Coravin uses argon precisely to preserve the original character of the wine for as long as possible after you have poured a glass.
That depends on the chosen Coravin system. According to Coravin, still wine can be stored for up to approximately four weeks with Coravin Pivot. With Coravin Timeless, the natural cork remains in the bottle. As a result, a wine can be stored much longer, and you can occasionally pour a glass from the same bottle for months or even years. For wines with a screw cap, different storage periods apply when using the special Timeless Screw Cap.
The Coravin Model Three and Model Six belong to the Timeless series. With these, a thin Coravin needle passes through the natural cork. Therefore, you do not need to pull the cork out of the bottle. After use, a natural cork can reseal itself.
With Coravin Pivot, the bottle is opened. You then replace the cork or screw cap with a special Pivot Stopper. This system is particularly suitable if you want to drink a bottle regularly but do not want to finish it within a few days. With Pivot, wine remains good for up to about four weeks.
Yes. Lovers of wines with a screw cap can also use a Coravin. Special Coravin Timeless Screw Caps are available for the Timeless systems. These replace the original screw cap and are designed for use with the Coravin needle.
With Pivot, it is even simpler. You remove the original screw cap and replace it with a Pivot Stopper. This way, you can also pour and store wines with a screw cap by the glass.
According to Coravin, one Coravin Pure Argon Capsule allows you to pour approximately 15 glasses of 150 ml using a Timeless system, including Model Three and Model Six. With Coravin Pivot, this increases to approximately 20 glasses of 150 ml. Actual consumption may vary slightly depending on how you use the system.
Coravin recommends using only its own Coravin Pure Argon Capsules. These capsules were developed for the connection and operation of Coravin wine storage systems and contain the argon gas with which the system is designed to function.

Yes. The OXXI WineProtector is a more affordable alternative to Coravin. This system also uses argon gas to protect the wine from oxygen and helps keep an opened bottle good for longer. For wine you want to drink within a few weeks, OXXI is a practical and affordable choice.
