Metodo Classico, or Champagne style from Sicily. And not just any one! This Cristo di Campobello Metodo Classico Extra Brut Rosato is the Best Sparkling Wine of 2023! Elegant and refined, with delicate rose petals and red fruit on the nose. On the palate, good structure, harmonious, and a delightful freshness! Made from 100% Nero d’Avola with aging on the lees for as long as 36 months. A wonderful aperitif or accompaniment to light dishes.
In the glass, this Spumante is powder pink. The fine, clear mousse sparkles gently upwards. Delicate aromas of fresh cherries, raspberries, and pomegranates combine with floral notes of rose petals. Beautifully structured on the palate, where the fresh acidity and floral notes are perfectly balanced. A delicious Spumante to drink as an aperitif, but it can also be served perfectly with light dishes.
The Nero d’Avola grapes for this Metodo Classico Extra Brut Rosato grow in the calcareous vineyards in Sicily at approximately 230 to 270 meters above sea level. The harvest here is carried out manually so that only the optimally ripe grapes end up in the wine. A strict selection of the grapes takes place both in the vineyard and in the wine cellar. After the harvest, the grapes are gently pressed, and after brief contact with the skins, the juice is separated from the pulp. The wine undergoes the first fermentation on its own yeasts in stainless steel. Subsequently, the wine, including the yeasts, is bottled for the second fermentation, the traditional method, or in this case, the classic method. The wine ages on its own yeasts (sur-lie) for 36 months.
The Bonetta brothers of Cristo di Campobello began planting vines in Agrigento, Sicily, at the beginning of this century. They wanted to put Sicily's indigenous grape varieties back on the map. Benefiting from the calcareous soils, all the wines produced to date have won numerous awards!
