Fresh, juicy, and full of energy, you can never go wrong with Picpoul!

Citrus, pear, and a hint of anise jump immediately from the glass in the Domaine Félines Jourdan Picpoul de Pinet. It is a fresh, lively white wine with plenty of juice, soft roundness, and an invigorating tingle. This Picpoul comes from the region. Picpoul de Pinet, a subregion of the Languedoc in the South of France, where the Picpoul grape has been cultivated for centuries. It smells of flowers, peach, yellow apple, and a hint of hay, while on the palate it is pleasantly dry and thirst-quenching. An ideal wine for a fish dinner or an aperitif.

    In short:

    • Aromas: citrus, pear, apple, pineapple, anise
    • Grape: 100% Picpoul
    • Character: fresh, smooth, juicy
    • Delicious with: mussels, oysters, prawns or pasta vongole
    • From the Languedoc in Southern France

Juicy, fresh and perfect with everything from the sea

The wine has a light golden-yellow color with a green tinge. As soon as you smell it, you notice white flowers, linden blossom, citrus, and a hint of honeysuckle. These are followed by white fruit, pineapple, and a subtle minerality. The style is playful and energetic. On the palate, it is fresh and crisp, yet smooth enough to be easy to drink. The structure feels broad, but the wine remains light-footed throughout. The finish is long, clear, and filled with a fresh, exotic undertone.

This Picpoul is suitable for many occasions: from lunch to drinks, and from dinner to a spontaneous seafood platter. It works particularly well with seafood dishes.

    Food and wine pairings:

    • Mussels or oysters
    • Pasta vongole
    • Gamba’s a la plancha
    • Grilled fish
    • Salads with citrus or fennel

About the winery and where it happens

Domaine Félines Jourdan is situated in the heart of the Picpoul de Pinet region on the shores of the Étang de Thau. The estate has been owned by the Jourdan family since 1983, who work in both coastal vineyards and plots further inland. Thanks to the clay and limestone soils, the grapes are endowed with both freshness and structure. Moreover, the constant sea breeze ensures healthy grapes and a long growing season.

The grapes are harvested by hand and immediately destemmed. After pressing, the must undergoes a brief cold clarification, followed by fermentation in stainless steel tanks at a low temperature. The wine is then allowed to rest on the fine lees for three months, which gives it its soft texture and subtle roundness. The Picpoul grape is the only permitted variety in Picpoul de Pinet, and with it, the estate produces an elegant, easy-drinking wine.

In addition, the region itself — the Languedoc — is a broad and diverse wine region, where freshness and fruity aromas often predominate. For those who want to try something different, the Picpoul van Castelnau also a nice alternative.
