Malvasia and Sauvignon Blanc. In Puglia, they are best friends forever!

The Feudi di San Marzano I Tratturi Sauvignon Blanc/Malvasia from the Puglia region has a golden yellow color with abundant floral aromas and a hint of candied citrus and tropical fruit. Pleasant, fresh acidity and a mineral finish. Both grapes are known for their great grape expression. Many primary aromas! Partly due to the use of hyper-modern winemaking techniques such as cryomaceration (very cold maceration) of 8 hours, the full potential of these aromas is utilized. Fermentation takes place at a temperature of 10-12°C in stainless steel for 13-15 days. This allows the wine to retain its primary aromas as much as possible, and they are certainly noticeable! The Feudi di San Marzano I Tratturi Sauvignon Blanc/Malvasia has intense aromas of ripe pear, passion fruit, and mandarins. Also some fennel and sage in the background on the nose. A pleasant, refreshing, and fruity wine, which is well-balanced and has a long finish.

In our opinion, the wine therefore needs some food to come into its own. Delicious with a fish stew or sea bass in a salt crust with confit fennel.

We are talking about a top cooperative that is 60 years old here!

The soil type and the Mediterranean climate play a fundamental role in the production of high-quality wines. This is not an easy environment due to the drought, winter frost, and strong sirocco winds. But at Feudi Di San Marzano, they have the knowledge to handle this properly. They produce beautiful, high-quality wines! The cooperative is indeed fortunate with the terroir: the vineyards are situated on a strip of land between the Ionian and Adriatic Seas. Moreover, the Mediterranean climate, the red soil, and the cooling winds form the best conditions for growing wine. International grape varieties such as Chardonnay, Merlot, and Sauvignon Blanc grow in the vineyards.

It must be said that not only international grape varieties are cultivated here. Cantine di San Marzano also connects old traditions, passion and emotions with contemporary techniques. This produces unique wines in which the characteristics of the grape variety are clearly evident and reflect the local terroir. Francesco Cavallo has been CEO of Cantine since 1982. Under his leadership, the first bottles arrived in his modern cellar in 1996 and, thanks to continuous development, it is also ready for the future!
