Clear, golden-yellow color with light green hues, made from 100% Chardonnay. Joseph Faiveley Bourgogne Chardonnay has a pleasant, intense aroma of white blossoms. A robust wine with a balanced and full mouthfeel, and a Burgundian high-flyer!

    History of Domaine Faiveley

The history of Domaine Faiveley dates back to 1825. The estate has been family-owned for 7 generations and is located in Nuits-Saint-Georges, in the heart of Burgundy. It comprises 127 hectares of vineyards, spread across the Côte de Nuits, Côte de Beaune, and Côte Chalonnaise, of which 12 are Grand Cru classified, 25 Premier Cru classified, and 6 vineyards with a ‘Monopole’ classification, meaning that all the land within these vineyards is owned by a single owner.

The estate is managed by Erwan Faiveley, who personally oversees the work in the vineyards to maintain control over the quality of the grapes. The hand-picked harvest is carefully transported to vaulted 19th-century cellars located in Nuits-Saint-Georges. To produce great Burgundies, Erwan Faiveley combines the principles of modern viticulture with traditional aging in French oak barrels. All of this contributes to the high regard Faiveley wines hold.

    Viticulture and education

The vines have an average age of 50 years and the yield is around 60 hl/ha. After the harvest, the wine ages in the cellars in Nuits-Saint-Georges for 8 to 10 months. A portion of the cuvée, depending on the vintage, ages in barrels. These barrels come from quality coopers and have been carefully selected for their fine structure; they have undergone a light toasting, which contributes to a warm and sultry character.

Food pairing Joseph Faiveley Burgundy Chardonnay

This white Chardonnay from Burgundy pairs excellently with seafood dishes featuring, for example, lobster, and white meats such as smoked chicken, poultry, and pork. Vegetable pairings include, for example, a vegetable quiche or a pumpkin risotto. And, of course, a wide variety of light and medium cheeses.
