    Velvety soft powerhouse

Piedmont is the wine region in Italy of classic wines. Cantine San Silvestro has opted for an innovative approach: a Barbera in the Appassimento style. This wine is made from dried grapes. As a result, the Serre dei Roveri Appassimento Barbera is sweeter than your average Barbera. And that makes it accessible and exciting. Powerful in flavor, velvety in character, and beautifully long.

Tasting note Serre dei Roveri Appassimento Barbera Passito

Serre dei Roveri Appassimento Barbera is a concentrated, flavorful red wine with a dark purple color. The aromas burst from the glass: cherries, leather, tobacco, oak, and spices. The typical flavor profile of a classic Barbera. However, due to the drying of the grapes (Appassimento), it has significantly more fruit notes and is sweeter than a standard Barbera. Soft tannins. Nice acidity with a slightly sweet and spicy finish. And, for a Barbera, it is also favorably priced.

Due to its rich character, it is primarily a food wine. Open this Appassimento with richer dishes such as grilled meat, lamb, or mature or aged cheeses (such as Gouda or Parmesan).

    About the winemaker

Cantine San Silvestro is a progressive winery in Piedmont. We selected the Serre dei Roveri series from them. A classic presentation with a modern taste, specially developed for the hospitality and trade sectors.

Piedmont is undoubtedly the cradle of all prestigious wines from Italy. This may well have led to the evolution towards a more modern type of wine having almost come to a standstill here. Not so at Cantine San Silvestro. Founded in 1871, this winery distinguishes itself through its progressive winemaking methods. Barolo and Barbaresco still possess the power and complexity for which they are known, but also align with the modern taste preferences of the international consumer. This makes them one of the region's most important export producers. Even when relatively young, most of their wines are already very appealing.
