Ice cubes, some sprigs of mint and fruit, and you have a cocktail that will truly make you happy. The Veuve du Vernay Ice Rosé is a party in itself. The wine has a distinct sweetness (demi-sec) with a pleasant mousse. We are super enthusiastic about this and it is certainly something you must try!! This style of wine started as a trend by the well-known house Moët & Chandon. The packaging is therefore a beautiful pink foil for recognizability! Winemaker Jean-Jacques Hochet has given it his own interpretation and twist. Not without success. We are fans!
For the optimal experience, we start with a large wine glass—not a flute. We fill it with ice cubes. Next, we add red fruit such as redcurrants, strawberries, or raspberries, and a fresh mint leaf. Finally, we pour this delicious rosé over it. On the nose, we detected pleasant notes of raspberry, strawberry, and grapefruit. The taste is refreshing despite the slight sweetness. The sweetness is clearly tempered by the coldness of the ice. The red fruit dances in the glass, forming a fine interplay with the red fruit segments. The finish is nice and long and very pleasant. This is super tasty for drinks with girlfriends or as an opening drink for a party! Success guaranteed! Also delicious with a beautiful fruittaart!
The grapes Cinsault, Grenache Noir, and Syrah were used here. Three grapes that possess the perfect characteristics for making a good rosé wine. After all, a lot of normal and excellent still rosé is being produced from these grapes. This blend is combined with sugar and yeast (liqueur de tirage) in the cellars to achieve the perfect mousse in the wine. Because this Veuve du Vernay Ice Rosé is slightly sweet, more dosage is added to the wine than would be done with the Brut.
Veuve du Vernay is a reflection of the French lifestyle: refined, spontaneous, romantic, elegant, and chic. This winery presents a range of sparkling wines produced in Bordeaux, the heart of French viticulture. Sparkling wines play an important role in the daily French lifestyle. They are drunk as an aperitif, with meals, and on festive occasions. A wine indispensable to the French “Joie de vivre”. The golden bubbles of Veuve du Vernay are made with respect for French tradition by the House of Patriarche in Beaune in Burgundy.
The grapes come from vines that have been cared for patiently and with respect for the environment by grape growers who are partners of Patriarche.
When the grapes are ripe, the vines are carefully harvested and the grapes are selected. Veuve du Vernay’s oenologist, Jean-Jacques HOCHET, applies all his know-how to every step of the winemaking process. It begins with pressing to obtain the “base wine.” Next, a small amount of sugar and some yeast are added to the wine. The mixture of sugar and yeast helps to initiate the fermentation process and form the bubbles. This is followed by several months of rest under the supervision of our Cellar Master, allowing the wines to develop all their flavor and bubbles. The pursuit of perfection at every step guarantees impeccable quality and gives Veuve du Vernay sparkling wines their unique character and renowned aromatic complexity.
