The Mâconnais is located in Burgundy. Red wines here are primarily made from Gamay and a small amount of Pinot Noir. This also applies to this Mâcon Rouge from Maison Louis Jadot. The wine is ruby red in color and smells and tastes of red fruit with beautiful earthy notes and spiciness. The pleasant, light tannins make the wine full-bodied and easy to drink with the entire meal: from an appetizer of charcuterie or snails, a main course of roasted meat, to mild cheeses. Preferably drink the Mâcon when young, although 3 to 5 years of bottle aging is possible.

    Louis Jadot Mâcon Rouge

The grapes for the wines of Louis Jadot are always harvested manually. This prevents overripe as well as unripe fruit from entering the vinification process. Furthermore, the grape pickers use small crates during harvesting so that the bunches do not bruise or get damaged prematurely. Grapes that nevertheless escape this attention are removed at the sorting table.

In the vinification of Jadot wines, the goal is for each appellation to have its unique aroma and taste. The terroir so highly acclaimed in BurgundyLet's say, the sum of all environmental conditions that determine the taste of the grape must always be recognizable in the wine. Each type of wine from Louis Jadot has its own individual character. And that, in turn, means that there is a wine in the Jadot range that will appeal greatly to every wine lover.

    Terroir and vinification

The Mâconnais has a continental climate with warm summers and cold winters, and the soil consists of calcareous clay. The grapes are fermented in stainless steel tanks to preserve as much fruit as possible in the wine.

    Taste and food pairing

Aroma and taste of red fruit with nuanced earthy notes and spiciness. The pleasant, light tannins make the wine elegant. Delicious to pair with, for example, veal or aged goat cheese. Serve chilled (12-14ºC).

    Terroir comparison

It is interesting to taste this Mâcon alongside the Beaujolais-Villages of the same year; the differences in terroir are then beautifully expressed.
