This amber-colored Geografico Vin Santo del Chianti is the pride and tradition of Tuscany. Vin Santo literally means ‘holy wine’. In the past, this wine was indeed served during mass. Nowadays, this sweet wine is beloved by Italy enthusiasts, but also beyond! Sweet, fruity, velvety smooth, and round. Traditionally the perfect pairing with Italian Cantucci biscuits, but this wine also pairs well with other pastries containing nuts.
Beautiful dark, amber colour in the glass. Warm aromas of dried fruit and nuts on the nose. Figs, currants, almonds, honey, and a floral touch of acacia and nut leaves. On the palate, the Vin Santo is sweet, but also surprisingly fresh. Good acidity brings the wine into beautiful balance. Distinct nutty character with a pleasant bitterness and a delicious, long finish. Serve the wine with desserts containing nuts, or of course the famous Cantucci!
Coming from the heart of Tuscany: Chianti. The soil of the vineyards of the Trebbiano and Malvasia The soil consists of sandy clay and stones. The grapes are first dried on straw mats for several months, so that the remaining juice is highly concentrated and rich in sugars. After pressing the dried grapes, the juice is placed in small vats together with the must from the previous harvest. The old must gives life to the new wine. The wine ages for several years in wooden barrels.
Agricoltori del Chianti Geografico, founded in 1961 and now under the wing of Piccini, revolves entirely around vineyards. For every new vineyard they acquire, a geologist and a vineyard specialist are on standby. Together, they assess the situation and provide advice on the best grapes and rootstocks. They then assist the owner with establishing and maintaining the vineyard. The winemaking team, experts in their field, creates the magic in every bottle. Their terroir-focused approach makes Geografico unique. The grapes for the top wines invariably come from a single specific vineyard and are therefore named after their estate. Quality is paramount, and the wines are produced in a classic manner, with minimal intervention in the vinification process. The result is honest, smooth-drinking wines with a price tag that will pleasantly surprise you.
