Rose petals, peach, strawberries, grapefruit, red berries, potpourri and salt. The Domaines Bunan Mas de la Rouvière Bandol Rosé is a refined organic rosé with a fresh and expressive scent. The wine comes from the Bandol wine region, located in the Provence in the south of France. Made from a blend of Cinsault, Grenache and Mourvèdre, this rosé is a complex and gastronomic wine that pairs well with poolside sipping but also feels at home on the dinner table.
The Domaines Bunan Mas de la Rouvière Bandol Rosé has a full and layered flavor profile. You taste red fruits such as strawberries and raspberries, complemented by a subtle bitterness of grapefruit. The fresh, light acidity makes this wine delightfully refreshing, while the depth ensures a full, gastronomic experience. This rosé is an excellent accompaniment to dishes such as pasta with spinach and salmon, Salade Niçoise, or seafood. Thanks to its versatility, it is also delicious on its own! This rosé also has excellent aging potential; its complexity will increase with a few years.
Domaines Bunan has its organically certified vineyards in the heart of the Bandol region in Provence. The vineyards face south, surrounding the medieval village of Castellet, and benefit from a unique soil of limestone, sandstone, and marl. The vinification of this rosé takes place at a controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks to optimally preserve the freshness and vibrant fruit aromas. This results in a complex rosé that is at its very best after a year of aging. Incidentally, it is already ready to drink now!
Perswijn on the 2020 vintage – 4.5/5 stars Blossom, red fruit, citrus, spicy. Power, structure, zest, rich, round.
Jancis Robinson on the 2020 vintage – 16.5/20 “Cinsault, Grenache Noir, Mourvèdre. 18 months in oak, certified organic. Real scent and substance here. Spreads all across the palate and gives Tempier a run for its money. Saline note on the end.”
Wine Spectator on the 2022 vintage – 90 points “Round and mouthfilling, with good substance to the pink grapefruit and red currant flavors, spiked with crushed herbs, potpourri details and a flash of salt. A serious wine for poolside sipping that also belongs at the dinner table. Shows good length and tension. Cinsault, Grenache and Mourvèdre. Drink now through 2028.”
Decanter on the 2020 vintage – 92 points “All the red berry flavors that you'd expect to find in a Provence rosé, but framed in a more serious style. It's an attractive shade of coral – paler than some from Bandol – and offers a beguiling mix of redcurrant fruit, with a vinous, savory, structured aspect. Good concentration but it also has freshness and great length too, making a perfect gastronomic rosé.”
