Diorama Garnatxa Negra from Bodega Pinord is a light wine with soft, fresh tannins. The wine offers great finesse with pleasant fruit flavors of cherries and other jammy red fruit. We are pleasantly surprised. Highly recommended!
Bodegas Pinord is a family business with a wine tradition dating back many years. Today, two generations are involved with the wide range of wines. The winery is located in Vilafranca del Penedès and operates organically. For some wines, biodynamic viticulture is practiced with Demeter certification. Bodegas Pinord was founded in 1942, and even then, they began working with indigenous grape varieties such as the GarnachaThe history of Pinord can be summarized in a few words: family tradition, pioneering and innovative spirit, love for the land, and a passion for good wine.
The D.O. Terra Alta is located in the southeast of Catalonia. This wine-growing region is surrounded by mountains that separate it from the valley of the Ebro River. To the south lie the mountains of Ports d’Horta, and to the southeast the mountains of Pàndols and Cavalls. The climate is Mediterranean with continental influences, featuring many hours of sunshine and an annual rainfall between 350 mm and 500 mm. Wind plays a fundamental role in Terra Alta. The continental Cerç wind blows strongly and keeps the vines and grapes healthy during ripening, while the Garbí and other sea breezes, blowing from the Mediterranean Sea, help to cool a hot summer.
Wine produced within the Terra Alta appellation (D.O. Terra Alta) from organic vineyards certified by CCPAE (Catalan Council for Organic Agricultural Production). After harvesting, the grapes arrive at the winery, where they are destemmed and ferment in vats for ten days. Following fermentation, the skins are pressed, and the wine ages in barrels for approximately four months to develop tannins and color. It is then filtered and bottled.
The color is bright violet with pink tones, a touch of ruby. The aroma and taste feature plenty of cherries and red fruits. You also taste spices, cinnamon, and jammy aromas. Pairs well with boiled vegetable soups, stews, and other meats such as dried Serrano or Iberico ham. Also combines well with hamburgers, pasta with meat sauce, pasta with tomato sauce, pizza, grilled chicken, and sheep's cheese.
