The family and famous wine producer Vajra describes the Barolo Albe as “Barolo as Barolo is meant to be”. And one from an absolute top vintage, 2016!! Already praised to the heavens by many wine critics. This Vajra Barolo Albe, for example, has already received 94 points from wine celebrity Robert Parker himself. Buy a whole case now, and tell no one. But such an intense experience of happiness when you open one in 6 or 10 years. They can't take that feeling away from you! Just an hour in a decanter, a nice large and wide glass, and then that tsunami of aromas. Phew, that is Barolo with a capital B.
The Vajra Barolo Albe 2016 is truly classic Nebbiolo Aromas: rose petals, cherry pit, followed by delicate notes of cranberry, raspberry, tar, mint, anise, delicate musk, and a hint of white pepper. On the palate, it is fragrant and graceful, with a juicy mouthfeel and balanced, velvety tannins. Authentic and expressive, Albe is a beautiful tribute to Barolo and the art of vineyard blending. It comes from their Fossati, Coste di Vergne, and La Volta vineyards. It possesses character, refined balance, beautiful aromas, and ripe tannins. The vineyards are cultivated sustainably. The harvest is done by hand in the second half of October. Vinification lasts 30 to 40 days, and aging in Slovenian oak takes around 3 years. Truly wondrous beauty.
2016 is an absolute top vintage: a very high quality, purity aromatic and generous harvest. After a mild winter and heavy rainfall in March that restored the water reserves. The pleasant spring produced generous flowering, night temperatures remained low throughout spring and early summer, and phenological maturation did not begin until late summer. Beautiful late autumn days and dry weather. Little to no rot. Truly, perfect conditions. Everything went well! The 2016 vintage is reminiscent of other top years 2004, 2008 and 2013 and will be remembered as one of the last picked in the season of the decade. The Vajra Barolo Albe is this year's wonderful exponent.
