The family business Baglio del Cristo di Campobello tops the rankings of Sicilian quality producers together with a handful of other producers. Meanwhile, their wines are attracting significant international interest and winning many wine awards. The Baglio del Cristo di Campobello Terre Siciliane IGP C’D’C bianco even has an Oscar Berebene from Gambero Rosso won.
The estate's own limestone vineyards are located in the village of Licata in the province of Agrigento on Sicily, near the Valley of the Temples. They are situated on a hill that rises 230 to 270 meters above sea level. Moreover, a large wooden statue of Christ on the cross stands on this hill, placed there two hundred years ago. Over the years, it even became a place of pilgrimage for winemakers who come there to pray for the quality of their wine once vinification is complete.
The combination of knowledge with passion and dedication yields wines of very high quality for the family, led by Carmelo Bonetta. The names of their wines are primarily derived from the Sicilian dialect. From the very beginning, the aim has been to produce wines with strong expression and personality. Additionally, Carmelo seeks to fully utilize the potential of the terroir. They achieve this by directing a large part of their work primarily to the vineyard and subsequently to the work in the cellar. They respect what the earth gives them through low yields and limited production. The cellar features state-of-the-art facilities and barriques from the French forests of Allier, Tronçais, and Nevers.
The C’D’C Bianco is made from a combination of four grape varieties: Chardonnay, Grillo, Insolia and Catarratto. Aromas of yellow flowers, white melon, light honey. A little ‘oily’ from the Chardonnay. Good Balanced mouthfeel with a fresh acidity in the finish. The wine also has a spicy note of sweet spices and Mediterranean herbs.
Thanks to the white grapes, this wine pairs excellently with, for example, four-cheese pizza, pasta Carbonara, barbecue with white meat (chicken), or as an aperitif with a cheese board.
