Fresh notes of pear, citrus, and green apple with a subtle spiciness. The Hensel Aufwind Grauer Burgunder is a characterful white wine from the German wine region Palatinate. Made of the Grauer Burgunder (Pinot Gris)-grape with fruit aromas and a refined spicy undertone. The vineyards are located in the hilly landscape of Rhineland-Palatinate, where the grapes benefit from a favorable climate and calcareous soil. A small percentage of the wine undergoes a short aging period in large oak barrels, which adds extra depth without overpowering the fresh character. Curious about other wines from Hensel? Then also try the zachte Weissburgunder!

Additionally, the wine offers a light touch of almond, hazelnut, and vanilla, derived from the short wood aging. The taste is full and creamy, with a soft structure and a delicate freshness. The low acidity makes the wine accessible and pleasant to drink.

Thomas Hensel is known for his meticulous approach in both the vineyard and the cellar, combining traditional methods with modern techniques.
The grapes are carefully hand-picked and selected. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks to optimally preserve the fresh fruit aromas. A small portion (approximately 7%) ages briefly in oak barrels, which adds extra complexity and a subtle spicy nuance. This vinification process results in a wine with a beautiful balance between freshness, fruit, and a light influence of oak.
