The Luretta Rosso dell’Emilia Pantera is a blend of three diverse grapes: the northern Barbera, the local Bonarda, and the international Cabernet Sauvignon.
A wine aged in 100% new French oak. The result is a glass that immediately stands out due to its clean nose, with plenty of cherry and morello/sour cherry (a type of tart cherry). Additionally, you can clearly detect cedar, thyme, and other Mediterranean herbs. There is even a hint of menthol or mint on the nose for just the right freshness. Juicy on the palate with ripe sour cherry, and especially at the end of the finish, a nice kick from the bitterness and a brief touch of astringency from the tannins. But above all, it is the purity that stands out.
Delicious with local charcuterie such as Coppa di Parma, Prosciutto Crudo, and Collanata. But you can also have a Melanzane Parmiggiana next to it.
The province of Emilia Romagna is actually a relatively unknown region for wine. We only know it for the famous and sometimes notorious Lambrusco. Yet, excellent stuff is being produced there by small and often organic winemakers. Luretta Rosso dell’Emilia Pantera is one such example. Located in the Castello di Momeliano near Piacenza, the controlled presence of wild grasses and herbs ensures an original balance in the vineyards. They strive for deep root systems for optimal utilization of nutrients in the soil. As a result, the plants put their energy into the fruit rather than the leaves. All of this results in delicious, pure wines, sometimes with just that challenging rough edge.
