Fruit, fruit, and more fruit! Dolcetto, really worth trying!

Luigi Einaudi Dogliani is an easy-drinking wine, which comes from Dolcetto-grapes from the vineyards of the Einaudi estates in the Dogliani area. In this region, this traditional wine reaches its maximum potential: a ruby red color tending towards violet with a rich fruity bouquet, full of power with an intense aroma and pleasant tannins, with a light almond note finish. With Dolcetto, it is the fresh fruit that makes the wine so interesting. Something totally different from the Nebbiolo and Barbera from that region. Ideal as an accompaniment to charcuterie, cold meat salads, poultry, pasta, pizza, and cheeses that are not too strong.

    Terroir and vinification

The San Luigi, San Giacomo, and Madonna delle Grazie vineyards are situated around Dogliani at an altitude of 350 meters and face south, southwest, and southeast. The soils consist of limestone, clay, and marl. The grapes are fermented at 28ºC in stainless steel tanks. After approximately 5 days, the juice is drained, fermentation begins, and the wine continues to mature in stainless steel. The wine is bottled by summer. Truly a guarantee of an incredible burst of black fruit from this Dolcetto grape!

    Luigi Einaudi

In 1897, the 23-year-old Luigi Einaudi graduated as an economist from the University of Turin. With the proceeds from his first book, he bought a farm in the Piedmontese region of Langhe. A successful journalistic, scientific, and political career followed; after World War II, Luigi Einaudi became the first president of Italy. Despite his political career, he remained closely involved in the expansion and development of his wine business. Moreover, when selecting a new vineyard, he adhered to the principle that ‘a great wine can only come from a great vineyard and great terroir’. The San Luigi cru in Dogliani and the most recent Cannubi cru in Barolo are good examples of that.

The wine company has been since 1990. Einaudi in the hands of Luigi’s talented great-grandson Matteo Sardegna.
