“Indeed, for for him wine was a serious matter; not a single grape was taken for granted. All those hours he spent with him experimenting, waiting, and tasting. The Tenuta Santi Fort Ercole was therefore created in honor of sweet and strong Grandpa Ercole.” Thus says Marianne Bruscoli, the person in charge of the wines at this beautiful estate. The Tenuta Santi Fort Ercole has a purple color with violet hues. On the nose, it evokes blueberries, grapes, quinces, and fig jam, with a roasted finish of light spices and cocoa. On the palate, it is full, warm, harmonious, with a complex structure. A rare balance between intensity and “simply enjoyable drinking,” and a finish with a sweet and distinct tannin structure. The Sangiovese in this blend provides refinement in the form of a backbone of acidity, and Montepulciano makes this wine bold without becoming unbalanced.
Ideal at 16-18°C. At the table, it pairs well with grilled Steak Fiorentina and typical local dishes with great aromatic complexity, such as Porchetta. Aged cheeses, delicious!
Tenuta Santi Giacomo e Filippo is an organically certified farm and estate in the heart of the Badia Nature Reserve, just outside Urbino in Marche on the east coast of Italy. The passion project of the Bruscoli family, led by daughter Marianna, the estate is a resurrected working farm (based on an old parish church), where the majority of the land is dedicated to grain crops and livestock, and of which 12 hectares are organic vineyards.
All the wines contain a fantastic, beautiful feminine touch. You can tell in all the wines that Marianna knows her stuff. A winemaker just the way we like them. Good wines across the board. Primarily from unique indigenous varieties such as Incrocio Bruni 54, Verdicchio, Bianchello, and Montepulciano, as well as Sangiovese, and the first vintage was released in 2010. In 2016, a state-of-the-art winery was opened, allowing the estate to age wines in steel, oak, and old clay amphorae. The wines are concentrated and expressive yet accessible, with a unique sense of place.
