The company Fratelli Cigliuti has been owned by the Cigliuti family for four generations. The company's name, Fratelli Cigliuti, was given by Renato's father and uncle. Until 1964, they sold grapes and wine in bulk to a local clientele. Currently, Renato is the owner, along with his wife Dina and daughters Claudia and Silvia. Renato Cigliuti started working in the company when he was just a child, and “when he grew up,” he decided to continue the family business, but changed the philosophy of winemaking from that time.

He had always believed that the soil in the Langhe produced high-quality wines and could also give them a long lifespan. So he began lightly thinning the grapes in the vineyard—something that very few producers understood in those years. His neighbors at the time asked him if he was crazy to cut away those grapes; food waste after the war was not easy to accept! Renato replied that he could not have both quality and quantity at the same time and therefore prioritized quality. He also wanted to bottle his wines himself. In 1964, his first 300 bottles of self-bottled Barbaresco came onto the market. After that, things took off!

Over the years, the size of his business did not increase much because Renato did not believe that his two daughters could be interested in working in the countryside: to him, it was a purely male activity. Meanwhile, Claudia and Silvia did start helping their parents in the vineyard during the summer holidays, and after a few years, it became natural for them to cultivate the same work and the same passion as their parents.

    Daughters are in charge!

The company is now a family business employing four people: Renato, his wife Dina, and their daughters Claudia and Silvia, who handle all production work directly from start to finish. They spend most of their time in the vineyard. Wines with their own personality, capable of reflecting the characteristics of the vintage and the identity of the terroir where they are planted.

Work in the cellar is very minimal; the wines follow their own path naturally. They do not use selected yeasts, but only indigenous ones. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in steel at a controlled temperature. Aging occurs in wood for all wines, except for Dolcetto, which remains in steel until bottling. No fuss in the cellars, just pure nature in the bottle!
