Fantastic Rosso di Montalcino of noble lineage

Marchesi Antinori is the world-famous owner of the secluded estate “Pian del Vigne” in the famous Tuscan village of Montalcino. And Pian del Vigne is, of course, world-famous for its absolute best. Brunello di Montalcino. In addition to this wine, they also produce this Antinori Pian del Vigne Rosso di Montalcino. They condescendingly call this a "second wine." Well, believe us, this is no second choice. It really is an incredibly good red wine!

We decant it into a carafe about an hour beforehand. The wine really needs to breathe for a bit. Phew, but then it really opens up! It (because it certainly is a He!) is a vibrant ruby red color. The nose reveals pleasant aromas of red forest fruit. Fruit, such as cherries and tart cherries, with light floral hints of violets and lavender. On the palate, it is fresh, refined, and savory with supple, mouth-filling tannins and a soft, silky mouthfeel; remarkable for its luscious fruit and long finish. The oak is truly beautifully integrated and absolutely not intrusive. Very pleasant, but I mean *very* pleasant.

    Gastronomic wine

We can safely say that such a Antinori Pian del Vigne Rosso di Montalcino loves to be opened on our own table. Fantastic with dishes like Ossobuco with Gremolata, or with Roasted Pork Belly. Oh, if you have less time, it's also great with homemade Lasagne.

The Antinori Pian del Vigne Rosso di Montalcino is made from 100% Sangiovese grapes, harvested and selected entirely by hand between late September and early October. Fermentation takes place under maceration for 8-10 days at a controlled temperature of 25°C. After malolactic fermentation, the wine ages for 12 months in large wooden barrels before bottling.

The Pian delle Vigne Rosso di Montalcino aims to fully bring out the aroma of pure Sangiovese, the historic grape variety of Montalcino. The vineyards are situated on calcareous clay soils that produce a wine that is fresh, mineral in character, and excellent to drink.

    Pian del Vigne

The Pian del Vigne estate, located 6 kilometers southwest of the town of Montalcino, takes its name from a characteristic 19th-century train station situated within the estate's boundaries. The estate comprises 460,184 hectares, of which 65 hectares are planted with vines, generally facing southwest at an altitude of 130 meters above sea level. Pian del Vigne is Marchesi Antinori's personal and profound interpretation of a traditional, prestigious wine such as Brunello di Montalcino. The estate has been owned by the Antinori family since 1995, the year of the first harvest of the Pian del Vigne Brunello.
