Bachéro has become Bacareto! A new name for the same delicious Verdicchio. The best verdicchio under a tenner according to De Grote Hamersma!

Our Bachero is now called Bacaréto Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi. Also new is that the bottle gets a blue and white band around the neck with DOC. Proof that the wine is made 100% from Verdicchio grapes from the DOC area. For decades, Piersanti has stood for top quality Verdicchio wines.

Why the name change?

For a wine with the popular DOC Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi classification, the grapes must come from its own area. A common complaint in the Marche was that many Verdicchio producers did not follow the rules and used other grapes from outside the area and even from outside Marche. To show that Piersanti’s Verdicchio is made from the “real” grapes the bottles wear blue/white band DOC certification around the neck. Unfortunately, to comply with all the rules, the name Bachero also had to change. This name is place related and may no longer be used according to the new tightened regulations. The new name will be Bacaréto Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi . Nothing has changed about the wine itself!

The Great Hammersma: 9+ – the best verdicchio under ten euros!

The Pontemagno Bacheto receives a 9+ from De Grote Hamersma 2021! “The name has changed from the 2018 vintage. First Puntamagno ‘Bachero’ now satisfies Bacaréto. Fortunately, the approach has otherwise remained unchanged. The winemaker adheres to a ripe style although it has become a bit fresher in this year. apple beignet, tangerine essence, the banana a bit less ripe. Turkish fruit, hint of green spice this time and mild acidity. Remains the best verdicchio under ten euros. Because even the price has remained unchanged.”

At Casa del Vino, the Bacaréto Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi classico Superiore D.O.C. from Vini Pontemagno is one of the most popular white wines. This classico superiore has a lot of intensity and power on the palate. The wood aging gives this Bachero Verdicchio a full flavor, but also a lot of elegance and freshness.

Proefnotitie Bachero Verdicchio dei castelli di Jesi

The Piersanti Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Pontemagno is made from the grape Verdicchio. The winemakers have used the best grapes from the hilly area near the town of Castelli di Jesi from the Le Marche region. The grapes are harvested late and soft pressed. Fermentation on own yeast cells is slow and at low temperature. It results in the malic acids from a grape converting to lactic acids. This gives the wine an oily character with power, roundness and its own unique character. Full of ripe fruit combined with fresh acidity, beautifully balanced. Highly recommended! The short wood aging gives extra intensity in flavor and structure to the wine.

About Vini Pontemagno

The winery Vini Pontemagno was founded in 1955 by Giovanni Piersanti. By investing in technology and quality, this winery has reached a high level. It makes wines with a very good value for money. The Piersanti are especially masters of the Verdicchio Classico from the Castelli di Jesi. At Casa del Vino, in addition to the Bachero, we also have the Quota 311, the Terre di Sampaolo and the topper Ori.

The grape Verdicchio

In the 1960s, Verdicchio enjoyed great commercial success. The wine’s classic amphora bottle, produced by Fazi Battaglia and designed by Milanese architect Antonio Maiocchi, became a symbol of Verdicchio at that time. Its market position improved dramatically when in 1973 Actor Al Pacino uncorked and drank the bottle in the film “Serpico.” When in later years people associated the amphora bottle precisely with cheap wine again, the wine has come back in regular bottle form. maybe it’s also time to bring back the old bottle?
