Dangerously delicious premium wine in a historic bottle

Amarone is a classic top wine from northeastern Italy. The wine comes from the region surrounding the city of Verona. This Biscardo Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOCG is produced by the Biscardo winery. The family has 150 years of experience in winemaking. Their wines are known for their dangerous drinkability and excellent price-quality ratio. This Amarone is also dangerously delicious!

Tasting note Biscardo Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOCG

The Biscardo Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOCG has a garnet red color. The wine has a magnificent aroma of very ripe red fruit, such as cherries. Additionally, you can detect aromatic herbs. What power and finish! The taste is velvety with a slight bitterness that gives this wine its body. According to legend, a producer of Recioto (a type of dessert wine) forgot the wine in the barrels. The wine continued to ferment and thus lost all its sweetness. That is why this wine was given the name “Amarone,” which means “very bitter.” In the finish, the fruit lingers for a long time, and you also taste hints of bitter almonds.

At Biscardo, the best grapes are harvested and selected by hand, after which they are left to dry out for three months. Much of the moisture evaporates, making the grapes very rich in sugars. These are then fermented again, resulting in a wine rich in flavor and alcohol. Amarone is always a blend: 70% Corvina Veronese, 20% Rondinella, 5% Sangiovese, and 5% Molinara. The Amarone della Valpolicella has been aged in oak barrels.
