Boscarelli Vino Nobile di Montepulciano: Typical Tuscany in the glass

Boscarelli Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, the flagship of this winery, offers a perfect blend of freshness, elegance, complexity, and great aging potential. This red wine is a powerhouse with a soft side. You taste ripe cherries, a hint of spiciness, velvety tannins, and refreshing acidity. It is the perfect companion for Italian dishes, grilled meats, or roasted game.

    What you can expect:

This Vino Nobile is a balanced wine with a long finish. It seduces you with aromas of ripe cherries, plums, and a hint of spices. On the palate, it is delightfully soft, juicy, and elegant, with mineral notes and silky tannins. Despite its refinement, it retains remarkable freshness. Although already delicious, it reaches its peak about 7 to 8 years after the harvest, for those who can resist the temptation.

    The story behind the wine:

This Vino Nobile comes from the vineyards of Cervognano, located in the heart of the Tuscan Montepulciano. The vines are at least 10 years old and grow on red, sandy limestone soils with a rich mix of clay and minerals, depending on the altitude. Primarily made from Sangiovese, supplemented with Canaiolo, Colorino and Mammolo. After manual harvesting, the grapes undergo gentle pressing and fermentation in oak barrels. Here, the process of extracting color and flavor begins anew as the wine passes through the pulp and must. Subsequently, the wine ages in large oak barrels, where malolactic fermentation takes place, resulting in a rounder and softer wine. After this phase, the wine rests for another 18 to 24 months in large oak barrels, followed by several months of bottle aging. It is ready to be enjoyed but can remain in the cellar for decades, becoming a deeper Vino Nobile.

    The story behind Boscarelli

Boscarelli, founded by Egidio Conradi, is a dedicated winery striving to produce top-quality wines. Authenticity for the Montepulciano region is held in high regard. Egidio started the adventure with his daughter Paola and her husband Ippolito De Ferrari in 1962. They understood the value of their vineyards in the heart of Montepulciano and transformed old buildings into modern wineries and cellars. Their vineyards on the slopes of the Chiana Valley offer ideal conditions thanks to the favorable microclimate. With care and precision, the family plants various grape varieties and creates around 30 unique cuvées annually. Boscarelli is known for the purity and elegance of its wines, employing minimal intervention and subtle use of wood. The involvement of the sons, Luca and Nicolò, ensures that the family tradition lives on.
