Cà dei Frati Brolettino is the premium wine from the producer from Lugana. Even better and more mineral than their basic cuvée Lugana I Frati which is also fantastic. The color is a very fresh green/yellow, a bit of a glow-in-the-dark effect.
A rich wine, round and coating on the palate with clear notes of apricot, white fruit, and almond. A lovely mid-palate and a surprisingly delicate acidity that gives the wine a distinct kick. Surprising and beautiful balance. The wine is suitable for immediate serving but only reveals its true complex nature after a few years. After a few years of aging, this is a beautiful and surprising alternative to a much more expensive white Burgundy!
The wine comes from clayey soil with a high calcium content and mineral salts. Consequently, it has a very mineral nose, almost a slightly chemical note, penetrating; also clearly recognizable are the light rubber and somewhat chemical notes so typical of the Trebbiano grape. Clearly, there is also a lot of white fruit here (peach and Poire William). Also distinct floral notes (wild rose).
The wine is made from 100% Trebbiano (Turbania variety), with the grapes harvested as late as late October.
Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks; 100% of the wine has undergone malolactic fermentation in barriques. The wines have aged on their lees in tanks for 10 months and then for another 3 months in the bottle. The wines can easily be stored for 5-10 years.
