Raspberry, a hint of herbs, mineral, and deliciously dry. Doesn't that sound like the ideal rosé for a sunny day? Rosa dei Frati Riviera del Garda Classico Rosé comes straight from the southern shore of Lake Garda. This wine from Lombardy knows exactly how to combine elegance and freshness. Cà dei Frati, a well-known winery in the region, is responsible for this refined rosé that invites you to pour a second glass. Also try the Il frati!
This rosé is made from four grape varieties. The well-known Sangiovese and Barbera provide structure and vibrancy, while Groppello and Marzemino – two local varieties – provide a subtle spiciness. It is precisely this combination that makes Rosa dei Frati not only visually appealing, but also means it has a lot to offer in terms of substance.
In the glass, this wine reveals a light salmon pink. The aroma is reminiscent of hawthorn blossom, combined with fresh notes of green apple, wild cherry, and a hint of almond. The taste is bone-dry, clear, and energetic. Thanks to a good balance between acidity and gentle spiciness, this is a rosé with character. This wine is best enjoyed with, among other things:
thinly sliced lean ham such as prosciutto crudo
a grilled salad of zucchini, bell pepper, and tomato
a classic Caprese salad with buffalo mozzarella
light pasta dishes without cream sauce
risotto primavera with seasonal vegetables
In short, Rosa dei Frati is ideally suited for warm days and light meals.
The history of Cà dei Frati dates back to the 18th century, when the estate was known as “the house with a wine cellar in Lugana”. In 1939, Felice Dal Cero moved to this region, convinced of the quality of the soil and the climate. His son Pietro continued the work and was involved in the establishment of the Lugana DOC in 1969.
Lake Garda plays an important role in the growing climate of the vineyards. Thanks to the temperature-regulating effect of the water and the cooling Pelér wind, a favorable microclimate is created. As a result, the grapes develop their aromatic complexity slowly and evenly. After manual harvesting, the grapes are carefully processed, with controlled fermentation to optimally preserve freshness. This creates a rosé that is bright, pure, and full of Italian charm.
