    Classic Amarone!

The typical Amarone aroma and taste of black cherries and plums, but the drying of the grapes also comes to the fore immediately in the Cantina di Negrar Amarone della Valpolicella with a distinct raisin note. Many aromas of black cherry, tobacco, and mocha. Ethereal, fruit like cherries and dried plums, dried flowers, sweet and spicy. The wine is distinctly powerful and should be enjoyed with a hearty dish. The finish is extremely long and impressive, and its lush and rich character will tempt many to have a second glass. But beware... before you know it, you'll be nodding off on the couch on Friday night... this is heavy stuff. Hearty but good!

Often ranked in the top 3 favorite wines by many wine lovers. Pair it with a nice piece of grilled meat, or a venison stew with a square of dark chocolate. Not to forget: a piece Frisian nail cheese, this also goes together particularly well.

Cantina di Negrar Amarone della Valpolicella fully expresses the business philosophy of the Cantine! The Cantine's spearhead is the wine's balance between elegance and structure. It is made from grapes grown in the Valpolicella Classico zone, which undergo the “Appassimento” (gentle drying) process. They age in large oak barrels for a minimum of 24 months and undergo further aging of 6-8 months in the bottle.

    This wine, a legend…

The Cantina di Negrar Amarone della Valpolicella “le Preare” stems from a beautiful Italian legend. The Amarone legend is, of course, a delightful story for wine lovers. The story begins in 1938 in a wine cellar in the hamlet of Novare, located in the Valpolicella wine region. At that time, Gaetano dall’Ora, manager of the local wine cooperative, was looking for a way to reduce the sugar content of the somewhat sweet Recioto. His cellarman, Adelino Lucchese, let him taste a sample from a barrel that had accidentally been left lying in a corner of the cellar. The long period that the wine had been stored ‘sur lie’ had fermented almost all the sugars into alcohol, resulting in a drier, more bitter wine. The legend tells that Adelino exclaimed, ‘But boss, this is not bitter (amaro), it is ‘amarone!’’ A legend was born!

    Very modern winery

The Le Preare brand of this Cantina di Negrar Amarone della Valpolicella was founded by Cantina Valpolicella Negrar to pay tribute to a history of hard work that allowed current winemakers to take advantage of the conditions and continue their business. The cellars of Cantina di Negrar are located in the heart of the Valpolicella Classico area. The winery was founded in 1933. Ultimately, the winery grew into a hypermodern company with modern facilities. The vineyards can be found in different sub-regions. The individual character of the own vineyards is preferably clearly expressed.

    Preare Quarry

The area was known for its prestigious stones, such as the red marble of Verona that was widely used during the construction of villas in Venice. However, the use of other local stones, less prestigious than marble, was widespread. The old quarries where the stone was extracted were called “Preare” in the local dialect. Local stones were used to separate the vineyards and to construct terraces, allowing the vines to grow even on steep slopes. Le Preare wines are an authentic expression of the area and its rich heritage.
